# Astro against Nuxt on what an agent reads

In short

Astro: A route opts out of prerendering with export const prerender = false. Nuxt uses universal rendering by default: the server runs the Vue code and returns a fully rendered HTML page. Nuxt leads on real status codes, 2 to 1; Astro: a made-up path returned 404 from astro preview, but the build wrote no 404.html.

## The sourced difference

Astro prerenders static HTML by default; Nuxt uses universal rendering by default and can drop to client-side rendering with one line, which removes the answer from the initial HTML. [Source](https://nuxt.com/docs/4.x/guide/concepts/rendering), read 4 November 2026.

## The rubric side by side

| Key | Astro | Nuxt |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Content in the initial HTML | 2, on by default | 2, on by default |
| Real status codes | 1, with setup | 2, on by default |
| llms.txt generation | 0, not offered | 0, not offered |
| llms.txt linking | 0, not offered | 0, not offered |
| Markdown on request | 0, not offered | 1, with setup |
| JSON-LD output | 1, with setup | 1, with setup |
| OpenAPI exposure | 0, not offered | 0, not offered |
| Fenced, tagged code | 2, on by default | 1, with setup |
| Total | 6 of 16 | 7 of 16 |

The two differ on 3 of the numeric keys: real status codes, markdown on request, fenced, tagged code. Evidence for each score is on the profiles of [Astro](https://agentreadyhtml.com/platforms/astro/) and [Nuxt](https://agentreadyhtml.com/platforms/nuxt/).

## Verdicts by reader

Technical SEO

Watch for ssr: false in Nuxt configs during audits.

Docs owner

Both are fine for docs when left on defaults.

Front-end developer

Nuxt needs a server for universal rendering unless prerendered; Astro needs none.

## What each leaves undone

### Astro

- Does not generate llms.txt in core.
- Does not negotiate markdown from static output alone.

### Nuxt

- Does not generate llms.txt in core.
- Does not keep the answer in the HTML once ssr is set to false.

Work left to the developer: Astro, Medium: add a 404 page, write llms.txt and any markdown endpoints, link the file, and add the host rules for 404 and Accept. Nuxt, Medium: keep ssr on, write llms.txt and a markdown server route, add the Accept middleware, and link the file.
