# Docusaurus: vendor profile

In short

Docusaurus writes one HTML file per route at build time, adds canonical and hreflang links on its own, and stops a production build at a broken link. No robots.txt, llms.txt or .md twin comes with it, and headers and status codes fall to the host. docusaurus.io returned 404 for a docs page's .md address on 2026-11-05.

**Docusaurus** Framework

Docusaurus is Meta's open source static site generator for docs that writes an HTML file per route at build time with sitemap, canonical and hreflang output; llms.txt, markdown copies and status codes are left to plugins and the host.

## What it does for this layer

- Docusaurus 3.10, announced on 2026-04-07, is the last release in the v3 line and adds future.v4 flags so sites can opt in to v4 breaking changes early. \[primary source, 2026-04-07\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/blog/releases/3.10), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus 3.10 marked Docusaurus Faster stable, its build stack of Rspack, SWC and LightningCSS, set with faster: true and planned as the v4 default. \[primary source, 2026-04-07\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/blog/releases/3.10), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus 3.10 added a basic AGENTS.md file to the repository and restated that any AI use in contributions to Docusaurus must be disclosed. \[primary source, 2026-04-07\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/blog/releases/3.10), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus 3.9, released on 2025-09-25, dropped Node.js 18 and added support for Algolia DocSearch v4 with its AskAI feature. \[primary source, 2025-09-25\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/blog/releases/3.9), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus adds title, description and canonical URL links to every Markdown page on its own, plus hreflang alternate links when i18n is configured. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/seo), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus produces rich search result markup for blog posts out of the box, and site-wide JSON-LD is declared by hand through headTags or a <head> block. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/seo), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus does not generate robots.txt, which owners add as a static asset, and its noIndex site option stamps noindex, nofollow on every page. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/seo), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus's @docusaurus/plugin-sitemap ships in preset-classic, writes sitemap.xml after a production build and skips pages carrying a noindex robots meta tag. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/seo), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus's trailingSlash option sets the file layout, emitting /docs/myDoc/index.html when left undefined and /docs/myDoc.html when set to false. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/api/docusaurus-config), read 5 November 2026.
- Docusaurus's onBrokenLinks setting throws by default, so a production build fails when it finds a broken link. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/api/docusaurus-config), read 5 November 2026.
- The Docusaurus deployment guide tells Netlify users to switch off the Pretty Urls setting, which can cause lowercase URLs, extra redirects and 404 errors. \[primary source\] [source](https://docusaurus.io/docs/deployment), read 5 November 2026.

## What it does not do

- Docusaurus core writes no llms.txt and no .md twin of pages; both need a third-party plugin, and docusaurus.io/docs/seo.md returned 404.
- Docusaurus does not control HTTP status codes or headers; 404 handling, trailing-slash redirects and X-Robots-Tag depend on the static host.
