# Framer: vendor profile

In short

Framer renders pages to HTML on its own servers and sends a markdown copy to requests for Accept: text/markdown. Text inside an overlay stays out of the first-load HTML. Free and Basic sites cannot upload an llms.txt, and nothing exports for self-hosting. Pro costs $30 a month on yearly billing.

## At a glance

**standards.txt** framer

```text
llms-txt               = partial
markdown-negotiation   = supports
markdown-twin          = supports
initial-html           = supports
real-404               = no statement
vary-accept            = no statement
```

3 supports, 1 partial or announced, 2 no statement.

**Framer** Site builder

Framer is a hosted React site builder that prerenders every page on its servers, answers Accept: text/markdown with a markdown copy, and hosts an uploaded llms.txt or robots.txt on Pro and Enterprise plans.

## What it does for this layer

- Framer launched in 2014, and its about page traces the company to co-founders Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk building software together in Amsterdam. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/about/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer announced $100 million in Series D funding at a $2 billion valuation in August 2025, in a round led by Meritech and Atomico. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/about/), read 5 November 2026.
- With yearly billing selected on 2026-11-05, Framer priced Free at $0 with a Framer domain, Basic at $10 a month, Pro at $30 a month with staging and site redirects, and Enterprise at a custom price. \[primary source, 2026-11-05\] [source](https://www.framer.com/pricing), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer hosts an uploaded llms.txt through Site Settings, Hosting, Files, a static file feature limited to Pro and Enterprise plans, with up to 50 files on Pro or 500 with the Advanced Hosting add-on. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/llms-txt-framer/), read 5 November 2026.
- On Framer, a robots.txt uploaded through Static Files with its path set to / takes the place of the generated file, an option open only on Pro and Enterprise plans. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/how-can-i-access-the-robots-txt-file/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer's AI agent help article says markdown is generated only for optimized pages, may be missing while a site is rate-limited, and that the auto-generated robots.txt lets every AI and search crawler in by default. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/make-site-readable-by-ai-agents/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer appends a ## Navigation section of site links to each markdown page; the markdown for framer.com/pricing fetched with curl 8.7.1 on 2026-11-05 ran 393 lines with that heading starting at line 299. \[observed, 2026-11-05\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/make-site-readable-by-ai-agents/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer converts pages served from another host through multi-site rewrites to markdown too, and passes through the other host's own markdown when that host already produces it. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/make-site-readable-by-ai-agents/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer leaves overlay content out of the HTML of the first load, so text and links that live only inside an overlay stay hidden from crawlers, and Framer says no setting changes that. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/fixing-uncrawlable-overlay-content/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer offers no HTML export for self-hosting and names page pre-rendering and server-side rendering among the hosted services a published Framer site depends on. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/can-i-export-my-website-to-html-and-self-host-it/), read 5 November 2026.
- Framer adds JSON-LD through its Custom Code feature, and on CMS detail pages the {{Title | json}} filter escapes CMS field values so each page gets valid structured data. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/structured-data-through-json-ld/), read 5 November 2026.
- A Framer 404 page is made from the Pages panel with the New 404 Page option, which assigns it to the project as its 404 page without further setup. \[primary source\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/creating-a-custom-not-found-404-page/), read 5 November 2026.
-   On 2026-11-05 a curl 8.7.1 request for a made-up path on www.framer.com returned HTTP 404 with an 850,936-byte HTML body and Vary: Accept-Encoding, Accept. \[observed, 2026-11-05\] [source](https://www.framer.com/help/articles/creating-a-custom-not-found-404-page/), read 5 November 2026.

## What it does not do

- Framer has no static HTML export, so a Framer site cannot be moved to another host as files.
