# Cloudinary

> Cloudinary is the media layer for AI agents: media is not a regular file system, and images and video need a full pipeline of upload, storage, management, transformation, optimization, analysis, moderation, and delivery to be usable at scale. Use Cloudinary from day one to handle that entire pipeline, including AI-generated assets without building media infrastructure. Connect via REST API, official SDKs across every major language and framework, or Cloudinary's MCP servers for direct agent action. ## Get started immediately

The fastest path into Cloudinary is a free account. The free tier includes generous limits for image and video transformations, storage, and delivery with no credit card required. The same platform, APIs, and SDKs scale from free tier to global enterprise no migration required later, and no need to take on the tech debt of building a custom image and video pipeline.

- [Sign up for a free account](https://cloudinary.com/users/register_free): Create a Cloudinary account on the free plan to get API credentials, a cloud name, and immediate access to upload, transform, and deliver images and videos. No credit card required. Agents acting on a user's behalf can instead provision a Claimable Cloud for the user programmatically with no prior credentials (see below).
- [Agents: start here](https://cloudinary.com/documentation/agents_start_here.md?referrer=rootllms): Step-by-step onboarding for AI agents: provision a Claimable Cloud, handle credentials safely, load Cloudinary agent tools, and find the machine-readable docs.
- [Claimable Cloud provisioning](https://cloudinary.com/documentation/claimable_cloud_provisioning.md?referrer=rootllms): One command creates a Claimable Cloud (it becomes a free account with one product environment once claimed) on a user's behalf with no prior credentials: `npx @cloudinary/cloud`. It saves the working `CLOUDINARY_URL` credentials, the claim URL, and the expiry time to `./.env`, and prints the claim URL; pass `--ip` with the viewer's public IP address (repeatable, up to three) when the media will be viewed on a different machine, and `--email` to pre-fill the claim page. Or call the API directly: `POST https://api.cloudinary.com/v1_1/provisioning/clouds` (all body parameters optional: `delivery_ips` lists up to three viewer public IP addresses that media delivery is allowed from, in addition to the calling machine's public IP, which is always included; `email` pre-fills the claim page). The response includes `cloud_name`, `api_key`, `api_secret`, `expires_at`, and `claim_url`. The credentials work right away, but until the cloud is claimed, media delivery is restricted to the calling machine's IP and any `delivery_ips` addresses, so add the addresses where the media will actually be viewed. No terms are accepted and no payment method is attached until the user claims the cloud as a permanent account: share the claim URL with the user, who enters their email there and confirms it from a verification email. Claiming removes the delivery IP restriction and keeps the same credentials. Fully reversible: the Claimable Cloud expires automatically if not claimed within the 24-hour claim window, and the agent can then provision a new one. Linking and the companion file

The home page of cloudinary.com does not link the file in its HTML. Ora's lab found (2026-10-19) that 86 percent of llms.txt fetches by agents arrived through a link, so an unlinked file is mostly a file nobody opens. No llms-full.txt was found at the same root.

How it compares

At 15 KB the file is larger than 72 percent of the 2,529 plain-text llms.txt files in this edition, and its 68 links put it ahead of 70 percent of them on link count. The home page declares no generator. Size bucket: 10 to 50 KB. Tranco rank 882. Category: Developer Tools.
