WordPress and Elementor Site builder, WordPress community; Elementor
Server-rendered CMS where llms.txt and markdown come from plugins (Yoast, AIOSEO, Website LLMs.txt, Markdown Alternate); Elementor sits on the AgentReady committee.
Work left to the developer: Medium: set pretty permalinks, pick one llms.txt plugin and one markdown plugin or edge product, and check that Elementor layouts keep the text in the HTML.
The nine scores
| Key | Score | Evidence | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content in the initial HTML | 2, on by default | Test build, WordPress 7.1.4 with Elementor 4.3.6, 2026-11-04: the home page and a page with a code block were server rendered with the H1 and text in the HTML. | developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy, 2026-11-04 |
| Real status codes | 1, with setup | Test build: with the default plain permalinks a made-up path answered a 301 to the home page, which answered 200 (a soft 404); after setting pretty permalinks it returned 404 directly. | wordpress.org/documentation/article/customize-permalinks, 2026-11-04 |
| llms.txt generation | 0, not offered | Test build: core and Elementor wrote no llms.txt (404). A plugin is needed; Yoast SEO is tested on its own profile. | developer.yoast.com/features/llms-txt/functional-specif…, 2026-11-04 |
| llms.txt linking | 0, not offered | Test build: nothing links an llms.txt and none exists in core or Elementor. | developer.yoast.com/features/llms-txt/functional-specif…, 2026-11-04 |
| Markdown on request | 1, with setup | Test build: Accept: text/markdown returned text/html. WordPress runs its own PHP server, so a plugin such as Markdown Alternate can answer it; none was installed. | joost.blog/markdown-alternate, 2026-11-04 |
| JSON-LD output | 1, with setup | Test build: core and Elementor emitted no JSON-LD on the pages tested; an SEO plugin adds it (Yoast did, see its profile). | developer.yoast.com/features/schema, 2026-11-04 |
| OpenAPI exposure | n/a | Does not apply to a page builder. Core exposes a REST API root through a Link header and a link element (rel https://api.w.org/); that is not an OpenAPI file. | wordpress.org/documentation/article/customize-permalinks, 2026-11-04 |
| Fenced, tagged code | 1, with setup | Test build: the core code block became pre class wp-block-code with no language tag; a language class has to be added by hand or by a plugin. | wordpress.org/documentation/article/code-block, 2026-11-04 |
| Work left to the developer | Medium: set pretty permalinks, pick one llms.txt plugin and one markdown plugin or edge product, and check that Elementor layouts keep the text in the HTML. Based on the test build above and the documentation pages cited for each key. | wordpress.org/documentation/article/customize-permalinks, 2026-11-04 |
Test build
WordPress 7.1.4 with Elementor 4.3.6, built on 4 November 2026. Docker images wordpress:latest and mariadb:11, wp-cli install, the default Twenty-style block theme, one page with a code block, then the Elementor plugin from wordpress.org. What it emitted:
- The home page HTML held an H1 and the page text (server rendered).
- With the default plain permalinks, a made-up path answered a 301 to the home page, which answered 200 (a soft 404); after setting pretty permalinks it returned 404 directly.
- Core serves a virtual robots.txt with a Sitemap line and wp-sitemap.xml; no llms.txt (404); Elementor changed none of this.
- Accept: text/markdown returned text/html.
- The code block became pre class wp-block-code with no language tag.
- No JSON-LD from core or Elementor on the pages tested.
Scoring rules for every key are on the method page.
What the documentation says
Each statement below carries its source and the date read. Statements a vendor makes about itself are labelled as vendor claims.
- WordPress renders pages on the server in PHP, so the main content is in the initial HTML unless a theme or block loads it with JavaScript; wordpress.org returned its content to a plain fetch on 2026-11-04. [primary source] source, read 4 November 2026.
- Yoast SEO added llms.txt generation in version 25.3 in the free plugin, announced on 2025-06-02. [vendor claim, 2025-06-02] source, read 4 November 2026.
- Joost de Valk released Markdown Alternate, a WordPress plugin that gives each post a .md endpoint, adds a link rel alternate type text/markdown tag, and answers Accept: text/markdown. [primary source, 2026-02-12] source, read 4 November 2026.
- Elementor is listed on the AgentReady committee at the standard launch on 2026-10-19. [vendor claim, 2026-10-19] source, read 4 November 2026.
- On 2026-11-04 wordpress.org and elementor.com both served /llms.txt and both answered Accept: text/markdown with text/markdown; those two sites run plugins and custom code beyond the WordPress and Elementor defaults. [primary source] source, read 4 November 2026.
What it does not do
- WordPress core does not generate llms.txt.
- Elementor does not document its own llms.txt feature as of 2026-11-04.
